Unifying a Global Brand Without Losing Its Local Voice

Five Guys is an iconic, no-frills brand with a passionate global following. As the brand continued to expand internationally, its digital presence needed to evolve—maintaining the unmistakable Five Guys personality while supporting multiple regions, languages, and cultural contexts.

I led the rebrand and redesign of FiveGuys.com, to create a unified global experience that could scale without flattening local identity.

The Challenge

Five Guys’ growth created a complex digital problem:

  • A single brand, expressed across dozens of countries
  • Multiple languages with different reading patterns and content needs
  • Region-specific menus, imagery, and regulations
  • Inconsistent digital experiences across markets

The goal wasn’t to standardize everything—it was to create one global system that could flex locally while still feeling unmistakably Five Guys.

The Solution

I approached the redesign as both a brand system and a content framework, balancing consistency with cultural relevance.

The site was rebuilt around a clear, scalable UX structure that:

  • Established a single global entry point
  • Allowed users to quickly select their region and language
  • Adapted navigation, content, and CTAs based on location
  • Supported left-to-right and right-to-left language needs where required and based on language

This ensured the experience felt intuitive whether a user was in New York, London, Dubai, or Tokyo.

The visual redesign reinforced Five Guys’ bold, confident personality while modernizing its digital expression.

  • Preserving the brand’s raw, authentic aesthetic
  • Designing flexible layouts for variable text length and translation
  • Supporting culturally specific photography and messaging
  • Creating a system that felt consistent across regions without being rigid
The Outcome

The redesigned Fiveguys.com launched as a unified global platform, providing:

  • A consistent brand experience worldwide
  • A scalable framework for international growth
  • Clear guidance for regional teams creating localized content
  • Improved usability across languages and devices

Most importantly, the work allowed Five Guys to show up digitally with the same confidence and simplicity that defines the in-restaurant experience—anywhere in the world.

The Digital Content

Five Guys has always been unapologetically real—fresh ingredients, open kitchens, no gimmicks. For this campaign, the opportunity wasn’t to “elevate” the brand through polish, but to get out of the way and let the truth show up on camera.

Instead of constructing moments, we captured them.

  • A behind-the-scenes moment caught mid-service
  • A camera stepping into the kitchen without warning
  • Real food, real people, real pace
  • No performative “food porn.”

By leaning into honesty, the spots reinforced what customers already believe about Five Guys—and invited new audiences to see the brand without filters. No tricks. No polish. Just Five Guys.
